Lauren Luckie-Merz Promoted at United Way of Southwest Alabama

Mobile, Alabama – The United Way of Southwest Alabama is pleased to announce the promotion of Lauren Luckie-Merz to Director of Philanthropy. Lauren has been an integral part of United Way since May 2022, bringing her strong dedication to community well-being and her commitment to improving the quality of life in Southwest Alabama.

Lauren’s background in nonprofit development—spanning higher education fundraising at Spring Hill College and community-focused work at United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile provided a strong foundation for her success at United Way. Her experience building meaningful relationships and engaging supporters has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission.

As Manager of Donor Relations, Lauren played a key role in the 2024 Annual Campaign, collaborating with business partners, individual donors, the Board of Trustees, and campaign volunteers to help raise $3,373,987 in support of essential services across Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington counties. She also supported the growth of the Emerging Leaders Affiliate group, whose members collectively pledged $28,802.82 this year.

In her new role as Director of Philanthropy, Lauren will oversee strategic fundraising initiatives and lead efforts to deepen donor engagement across the region. Her leadership will help strengthen the network of partners supporting United Way programs, which served 176,581 individuals and families this year.
