Jerry A. Wilson Named November Firefighter of the Month
Mobile, Ala. — The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) is proud to announce that Fire Service Driver Jerry Wilson has been selected as the Firefighter of the Month for November.
Driver Wilson, an 18-year veteran of the department, has served as a driver for over 10 years. Stationed at Crichton Station, he is known for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving the community, including 24 years of military service. He is also a hazmat technician and has been awarded a physical fitness ribbon.
Captain LeCedric Browe, Wilson’s supervisor, said that his knowledge, skills, and abilities are invaluable to the team, particularly during challenging rescue operations. Captain Browe highlighted an incident where Wilson’s expertise played a crucial role in a complex extrication, demonstrating his calm demeanor and unwavering commitment to saving lives. In that incident, they saved a man’s life after he had wrecked, and the vehicle was struck in a culvert.
Beyond his on-duty responsibilities, Driver Wilson actively engages with the community, participating in outreach programs at Dumas Wesley Community Center. His friendly and approachable nature makes him a positive role model for local youth.
Driver Wilson’s selection as Firefighter of the Month is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the MFRD and the citizens of Mobile.
“As a kid, I always wanted to be a hero,” Wilson said. “This is about as close as I can get to it.”
