MOBILE, Ala. – Fuse Project is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $15,000 grant from The Community Foundation of South Alabama’s Closing the Opportunity Gap Initiative. This grant will support Fuse Project’s programs that provide high-quality educational opportunities to children in the historic Avenue communities.

The Community Foundation of South Alabama recently awarded a total of $383,277 to 36 nonprofit organizations across its eight-county footprint in Southwest Alabama. These grants aim to narrow the opportunity gap among local youth, addressing critical areas such as mental and behavioral health, family education, work, racial equity, and arts and culture.

“We believe that every child in our community, regardless of their zip code, deserves an opportunity for success,” said Ann-Brooks Morrissette, Executive Director of Fuse Project. “We are incredibly grateful to The Community Foundation of South Alabama for their shared belief and support of our mission. This investment will enable us to serve more students and increase the footprint of our ABC Program this school year.”

Fuse Project is committed to providing the spark for innovation, funding, and implementation of projects benefiting children within a defined neighborhood. With a focus on bridging educational divides and promoting community engagement, their holistic approach aims to empower children, regardless of their circumstances, to reach their full potential. The culmination of these efforts is the Avenue Bridge Collaboration (ABC) Program, which includes the ABC Academic Support Program, SPARK Summer Camp, and ABC Early Learning Program (coming soon!). The goal of the ABC Program is to advance equity in education and close the opportunity gap by bringing together impactful partnerships, resources, and innovative programming that speaks to each child’s unique abilities and experiences.
