MMofA to host annual Makers Market & Open House

MOBILE, Ala. –  On Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 3 to 6 pm, Mobile Museum of Art will host their annual Makers Market & Open House featuring live music, food trucks, art activities, and free admission to the Museum.
“MMofA’s Makers Market and Open House is a signature event for families and visitors of all ages that officially kicks off the summer,” said Executive Director Jon Carfagno. “From hands-on activities, to touring the galleries, to supporting local entrepreneurs, you don’t want to miss the celebration of creativity and community.”
Vendors will be offering a variety of handmade items, such as jewelry, pottery, self-care products, and more. Denver Hawsey will provide live music, and tasty treats will be available from a variety of food trucks.
During the Open House, participants are invited to visit The Museum School and get creative with fun activities designed by MMofA’s educators. All art activities will be free. MMofA’s popular children’s exhibition, FOR CHILDREN: The Elements of Art and Design, will be open for exploration.
Visitors can also check out MMofA’s special exhibitions including: DECADES: Looking Back/Moving Forward (1940 – 1959), which includes seven Surrealist masterworks from The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, as part of Art Bridges’ Collection Loan Partnership program; Contemporary Alabama; and E.O. WILSON: A Photographic Tribute by Alex Harris.
Admission to the Museum will be free all day in addition to the afternoon activities.
The Museum’s exhibitions and programs are supported by the City of Mobile, Mobile County, The Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
