Thompson Foundation Donates $78,500 to Community Organizations
MOBILE, ALA. — The Thompson Holdings Foundation awarded $78,500 to community organizations and charities at its first meeting of 2024. The Thompson Foundation encourages employees of Thompson Engineering, Watermark Design, Thompson Consulting Services, and Meyer Engineers to request funds for the organizations they support through volunteer service. “Our employees work hard on the job and in their communities,” said Chad Brown, chairman of the Thompson Foundation. “We take pride in giving to the organizations where our employees spend their time and energy giving back.”
The Thompson Foundation supports a variety of causes including health and social welfare, environmental and cultural resource preservation, civic and community development, arts and recreation, and education in the form of grants and scholarships. Recipients include organizations and students across the Thompson companies’ affiliated footprint. The Thompson Foundation makes a concerted effort to support STEM‐focused programming.
Some of the organizations receiving funding in 2024 include Special Spectators, Mississippi Robotics, Feeding the Gulf Coast, Drug Education Council, and the Westchase District Community Fund in Louisiana. Additionally, the Thompson Foundation continued supporting Flight Works’ “We Will Build it Better” program, which engages elementary school students in STEM learning.
The foundation raises funds through company contributions, employee donations, and an annual fishing rodeo fundraiser. Since its inception, the Thompson Foundation has given more than $1.3 million to more than 200 organizations.
