MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA’s Matthew Graham was presented with the Architect of the Year award by the Mobile Area Council of Engineers (MACE) and the organization’s annual banquet last night.  MACE recognizes engineers in the community for their achievements and leadership, a tradition that has been in place since 1967. With a decade of naval architect experience, Graham is a senior naval architect at Austal USA with a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Webb Institute.

“Austal USA is incredibly proud of Matthew’s hard work and accomplishments that have earned him this prestigious recognition,” Austal USA Acting President Michelle said. “Matthew’s level of technical expertise has been an integral part of the success of Austal USA’s amazing team of engineers, naval architects, and designers responsible for the design of some of the most complex surface vessels so important to our Nation’s defense.”

Graham’s area of expertise is in concept design.  He is experienced with tank testing, beaching analysis and testing, ship stability, weight estimating, managing general arrangement, Excel and VBA coding/automation, ventilation arrangements, and mooring calculations.

The MACE mission is to bring recognition to practicing engineers for outstanding service to the engineering profession, to publicize the many benefits that the engineering profession provides to the Mobile area, and to encourage the pursuit of a professional engineering career to future engineers.
