Mobile, Ala. – Gulf Distributing Company (Gulf) in December, 2023, marked our 50th anniversary, founded by our matriarch Freida G. Maisel in 1973.

Since that time, thanks to our hard-working team, Gulf has grown exponentially by adding:

• New supplier partners, growing in both volume and revenue.
• Enhanced our strategic operations.
• Continually invested in new technology and state-of-the-art warehouses, and
• Acquired additional distributorships to expand our market territory.

Chairman and CEO Elliot B. Maisel is proud to announce a significant investment in Gulf’s people. Beginning in January 2024 we will implement a restructure of our company-wide senior leadership team. These changes will be the biggest evolution as a company in several decades.

This restructure will support and elevate members of our senior team, enhance collaboration, improve efficiency, and optimize our resources. These employees will provide new growth opportunities for all of our talented employees. Gulf is committed to invest over $7 million into this program and will add over 60 new employees to our headcount within the next twelve months.

Jimmy Marston, has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer of Gulf Distributing Holdings and is our first non-family Board Member. He will continue to lead Gulf’s sales and marketing organization company-wide, with a focus on:

• Accelerating the company’s growth in volume, revenue, and partnerships with new brands and suppliers.
• Continue to oversee all aspects of retail customer service and will mentor and train Gulf’s employees at all levels.

Louis Maisel is our new Chief Operating Officer, where he will lead Gulf’s:

• Strategic operations.
• Facility and fleet management.
• Supply chain management and
• technology departments.

Glenn Morris, Scott Van Matre, and Domenic Olson have each been elevated to the roles of Divisional Senior Vice President. This recognition reflects their exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to propelling our company forward. Their contributions have been instrumental in driving our success, and their new roles will enable them to make an even greater impact on Gulf’s future.
