MOBILE, Ala. — As students, teachers, and school staff prepare for the start of a new school year, Mobile City Councilman Cory Penn is inviting the community to come together in prayer during a Prayer Walk for Our Schools and Our City.

The community-wide event will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Frederick D. Richardson Jr. Tricentennial Park, 2121 Bragg Avenue, Mobile, AL 36617.

With students returning to school on Monday, August 10, the Prayer Walk will provide an opportunity for residents from across Mobile to unite in faith and pray for a safe, successful, and productive school year. Participants will pray for students, teachers, administrators, school employees, parents, first responders, elected officials, and the entire community.

“Before we send our children back into the classroom, let’s come together as one community to seek God’s guidance, protection, wisdom, and peace,” said Councilman Cory Penn. “Prayer has the power to bring hope, strengthen families, and unite our city. Everyone is welcome to join us as we lift up our schools and our community.”

The Prayer Walk is open to the public. Families, churches, neighborhood organizations, educators, students, and community leaders are encouraged to attend.
