Mobile Chamber Board Selects David Rodgers as President and CEO Designate
MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Chamber Board of Directors has selected David Rodgers, CEcD, to serve as president and CEO designate.
Effective August 3, 2026, Rodgers assumed the responsibilities of president and CEO designate under a Board-approved Executive Leadership Transition Governance Framework. He is expected to assume the position of president and CEO upon the retirement of current President and CEO Bradley Byrne on July 1, 2027.
Recognizing the unique opportunity presented by an exceptionally qualified internal candidate, the Board conducted a comprehensive executive leadership evaluation before making this decision. Following that review, the Board concluded that Rodgers is the right leader to guide the Mobile Chamber into its next chapter.
“Selecting the Chamber’s next president and CEO is among the Board’s most important responsibilities,” said Teresa Williamson, chairman of the Mobile Chamber Board of Directors. “Throughout this process, we remained focused on identifying the leader best prepared to guide our organization into the future. David Rodgers distinguished himself through his leadership, integrity, strategic vision and unwavering commitment to the Mobile community. The Board has every confidence in David and is excited about the future of the Mobile Chamber under his leadership. We are also grateful to Bradley Byrne for his years of service and for his commitment to ensuring a thoughtful and seamless leadership transition.”
“On a personal note, I have had the privilege of working alongside David in executive leadership and have seen firsthand the way he approaches challenges, builds relationships and leads with integrity,” Williams added. “I’ve watched David grow as a leader, and I’ve also watched him help others grow. Those qualities cannot be captured on a résumé, but they are among the reasons I have complete confidence in his ability to lead this organization and inspire the people who make it successful.”
Since joining the Chamber in 2015, Rodgers has progressively advanced through senior leadership roles, most recently serving as executive vice president. He has helped lead transformational economic development initiatives resulting in billions of dollars in announced capital investment and thousands of announced jobs throughout the Mobile region.
A certified economic developer, Rodgers is widely respected for his strategic leadership, collaborative approach and commitment to strengthening Mobile’s economy and business community.
“I have had the privilege of working closely with David for many years and have seen the care, integrity and steady leadership he brings to this work,” said Mobile Chamber President and CEO Bradley Byrne. “I have great confidence in him, both as a leader and as someone deeply committed to this community, and I look forward to working alongside him over the coming year to ensure a smooth transition.”
“I am deeply grateful to the Board for its confidence and to Bradley for his leadership and mentorship,” said Mobile Chamber President and CEO Designate David Rodgers, CEcD. “It is an honor to lead this organization, and I look forward to serving alongside the talented Chamber team to work with our members, partners and investors to create even more opportunities for the Mobile region,”.
The Board believes this leadership transition positions the Mobile Chamber to continue strengthening the regional economy, serving its members and investors, and building upon the collaborative partnerships that have contributed to its continued growth and success.
“As our community continues to grow, it is critical that we have leadership that understands both our region’s strengths and its future potential,” said Mike Jordan and Patrick Murphy of Alabama Power Company in a joint statement. “David brings a proven commitment to economic development, business advocacy and community partnership. His understanding of our region, collaborative leadership style and passion for creating opportunities will be tremendous assets to the Mobile Chamber and the businesses it serves.”
“David Rodgers is a proven and highly respected leader within our community and a trusted presence across the state and region,” said Burton Property Group President and CEO Phillip G. Burton. “His deep roots in Mobile, established relationships and demonstrated record of leadership give him a genuine understanding of our business community and the opportunities and challenges facing our region. Leaders of David’s caliber do not come along often. His vision, credibility, collaborative approach and commitment to economic growth make him exceptionally well qualified to lead the Mobile Chamber. Our community is fortunate to have someone with his talent, experience and passion who is committed to continuing his service here.”
