Montgomery—Mobile County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood was re-elected yesterday to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Counties (NACo) during the association’s Annual Conference, continuing her leadership role within the nation’s foremost organization representing county governments.

“It is an honor to be re-elected to the NACo Board of Directors and continue representing Mobile County and counties across Alabama at the national level,” Ludgood said. “County governments play a critical role in improving quality of life for residents, strengthening local economies and addressing complex challenges in our communities. I look forward to continuing to work with county leaders from across the country to advance policies and solutions that support counties and the people we serve.”

As a board member, Ludgood once again joins a group of county officials from across the U.S. charged with helping guide NACo’s strategic goals, policies and priorities on behalf of America’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs.

NACo serves as the national voice for county governments, while ACCA represents and supports the state’s 67 counties. Ludgood’s re-election strengthens Alabama’s representation within NACo and helps ensure the priorities of counties across the state are reflected in national policy discussions.

Throughout her public service career, Ludgood has been a champion for economic opportunity, community development, public health, environmental stewardship and equitable access to essential services. Her re-election demonstrates the confidence county leaders place in her leadership and her ability to advocate effectively for counties at the national level.
