MOBILE, Ala.  – The Mobile Airport Authority is excited to announce the return of the BFM 5K on the Runway, taking place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Mobile International Airport (BFM).

Participants will have the rare opportunity to race directly on the runway, followed by a 1-mile Fun Run for families and kids. Post-race festivities will feature music, food, and free entertainment for children, including bounce houses and face painting.

“We’re excited to bring the BFM 5K on the Runway back for its fourth year,” said Chris Curry, President of Mobile Airport Authority. “It’s a one-of-a-kind event that gives participants a unique race experience. It also helps us give back to our community through the Mobile Airport Authority Foundation. It’s a great way to showcase our airport and engage with our community in a meaningful way.”

Proceeds from the event benefit the Mobile Airport Authority Foundation, supporting charitable, educational, and aviation-related initiatives in the the Mobile area, including Penelope House, Bishop State Community College, and various scholarship programs for local students.

This year’s event is supported by Jesco Construction as the title sponsor, alongside other local businesses committed to giving back to the community.

Race Details:

• Date: Saturday, October 5, 2024
• Time: 8 a.m. – 5K on the Runway, 9 a.m. – 1-mile Fun Run
• Location: Mobile International Airport (BFM), 1886 5th Street, Mobile, AL

Registration Details:

• Register before October 4: $25 for adults, $15 for kids
• Day-of registration: $45 for adults, $30 for kids
• All participants will receive a race t-shirt, a swag bag filled with local goodies, and post-race snacks. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each category.

Early packet pickup and registration will be available on Friday, October 4, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Mobile (3972 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608). Race-day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7 a.m. on race day.
